Earthquake Response Planner

Earthquake Response Planners support the deliberate and crisis action planning initiatives related to seismic hazards.  These include national- and regional-level planning efforts in support of federal, regional and state partners.

Locations

These are hybrid positions meaning that work is conducted remotely with on-site requirements of 1-2 days per week in a government office environment.  As such, all Planners must reside within 50 miles of one of the following:  Philadelphia, PA; Chicago, IL; Kansas City, MO.

Relocation expenses are not authorized.

Up to 25% travel within the region may be required.

Responsibilities

Earthquake Response Planners will be responsible for providing planning support, operational research, project management, meeting facilitation, interagency coordination, and developing and writing emergency management plans related to seismic zone emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Staff with emergency management experience are valued for their ability to provide insights and skills from all aspects of emergency management to design, develop, conduct, and evaluate emergency management plans and exercises.

 

All Planners must have, at a minimum:

  • Experience specifically developing seismic zone emergency management plans.
  • Residence within 50 miles of the FEMA Regional Headquarters in Philadelphia, PA; Chicago, IL; or Kansas City, KS; or the ability to relocate to one of these areas within 30 days of hire. Relocation expenses are not authorized.
  • Ability to receive a public trust suitability prior to beginning work on the project

 

Candidates who do not meet all three of these minimum requirements will not be considered.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience supporting FEMA’s emergency management planning efforts, and those holding a current public trust suitability.
