Position Description:
The JTAC SME’s responsibilities are to support Army War Fighter and various Marine, Navy, and Air Force exercises. During War Fighter, the JTAC SME acts as a CAS Pilot Role player executing CAS missions from check-in to check-out with all training audience control agencies via voice and CHAT. TBMCS/ ESTAT/PERSPECTIVE will also be used. This includes being involved in planning each exercise from start to finish. The JTAC SME will provide inputs to those individuals writing the exercise products such as SPINS. The JTAC SME will also be required to learn how to operate Part Task Trainer (PTT) which is an air model used during War Fighter exercises and to support other exercises using this model. Some travel may be required.
Responsibilities:
- The JTAC must have extensive knowledge of Theater Air Control System (TACS)/Army Air-Ground System (AAGS), Marine Corps Air Command and Control System (MACCS), Navy Tactical Air Control System (NTACS), and Special Operations Command and Control of air to ground support functions.
- Assist planners on synchronizing CAS in time, space, and purpose with supported maneuver forces, increasing the effectiveness of the exercise being supported.
- The SME (subject matter expert) will coordinate with AOC RC/White Force personnel on the capabilities, limitations, and employment of FW/RW CAS and Strike assets to meet event objectives and limitations.
- Coordinate and assist AOC RC/White Force personnel with CAS weapon’s capabilities, limitations, and employment
- SME shall assist in capturing the integration of joint air operations CAS mission into the operation order (OPORD), air tasking order (ATO), airspace control order (ACO), and SPINS.
- Will develop a complete mission report (MISREP) for each CAS Mission and transmit to Training audience JTACS/ASOC.
- Identify and resolve conflicts of weather, terrain, and threats when employing CAS assets.
