Jon Walz recently joined Global Consulting International (GCI) to direct our work on the Design, Engineering and Support Program (DESP) III contract and to lend his expertise to the management of some of our other work for the US Air Force.

Mr. Walz is a retired veteran whose US Air Force career ranged from his time at Officer Training School at Lackland AFB in Texas to his retirement 20 years later as Commander, 21st Contracting Squadron, 21st Space Wing, at Peterson AFB, Colorado.  Along the way Walz served in a number of different capacities including working as a seismological technician in Australia, the Philippines and in Colorado, USA, and in a position where his leadership capabilities were key to his success as Deputy Commander of the 89th Maintenance Group at Andrews AFB.

After retiring from the Air Force, Walz became the Program Manager for the DESP II and DESP III contracts at Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, OH.  His familiarity with the Air Force in general and with the DESP program in particular makes Walz a valuable addition to the GCI team.  While at Battelle, Walz was Program Manager for task orders totaling almost $50 million in disciplines ranging from data mining and analysis to process re-engineering and fuel-cell design.

Walz also served as leader of a team that developed a Client Resource Management (CRM) solution for government business development and earned his Program Management Institute certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) while at Battelle.
