January 2012 – Global Consulting International Inc. (GCI) was recently chosen as a prime contractor for the DESP III contract.  DESP III is a five-year multiple-award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract vehicle providing a broad range of engineering services in support of any system or subsystem within the Air Force and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies.

GCI is leading a diverse team of large and small companies that have experience with the various components, systems, and requirements of all the agencies having access to the DESP III contract. The contract ceiling amount is set at $1.9B.   Task orders to support specific objectives will focus on improving system lifecycle cost and extending system operational life while improving performance and maintainability and ensuring safety and environmental friendliness.

The DESP III Program includes a broad range of design and engineering and technical support services, including such things as:

  • Environmental, Health, and Safety Support
  • Prototype/pre-production development
  • Build, Test, and Evaluation services
  • Hardware and Software Fabrication
  • Technology Insertion
  • Field Representation, Documentation, and Training
  • Engineering Services
  • Logistics Support
  • Source Qualification

One of the primary purposes of DESP III is to provide the Air Force and other DoD customers with a contract vehicle to use for acquiring engineering services in a fraction of the time normally required for standard contract actions.

The DESP III contract covers various areas of service.  It can be used for the development of prototypes and limited production runs as well as for incidental construction essential to the performance of an engineering service.  DESP III also includes provision for Advisory and Assistance Services, an area in which GCI has considerable relevant experience.
