GCI/CTSC DoD Mentor-Protege Program to Receive Nunn-Perry Award
October 25, 2013GCI Expands Capabilities to Include SATCOM
January 13, 2014In mid-January, GCI passed its’ Standard CMMI Appraisal Methodfor Process Improvement (SCAMPI) audit in order to be evaluated for the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 2.
Achieving Maturity Level 2 proves that GCI’s projects are managed correctly and that processes are planned, performed, measured, and controlled. It also ensures that GCI’s projects are performed and managed according to their documented plans. Additionally compliance at this level guarantees that work products and services satisfy their specified requirements, standards, and objectives.
This successful audit is the result of 18 months of diligent work by GCI staff working closely with its mentor, Chenega Corporation to define management practices, processes, standards and objectives. This enabled GCI to ensure that requirements are managed and that processes are repeatable and measurable. GCI’s CMMI Champions worked hard to establish a corporate process discipline which ensured that existing practices are retained during times of stress. This discipline required commitments from among relevant stakeholders and were revised as needed throughout the CMMI implementation period.
Achieving CMMI Maturity Level 2 shows our customers, both present and future, that GCI works from a set of disciplined management practices. This assurance provides our customers with a high confidence level that GCI will be successful in meeting contract requirements. We’d like to thank our mentors at Chenega Corporation and our partners at iPower for helping us achieve this rating.
